Robert L. Crenshaw, 84, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born Dec. 3, 1927 at Shamrock, Texas, the son of Robert and Lisa (Imhoff) Crenshaw.
He moved from Shamrock, Texas to Dodge City as a child.
Crenshaw was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Army in the European Theatre.
On June 29, 1946, he married Bernice F. Friddle in Pampa, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 25, 1987. They lived in Pampa until moving to a farm near Montezuma in 1960.
Crenshaw worked for City Service Gas Company for 26 years until his retirement. He was also a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed making wooden toys that he gave away to many friends and family.
Crenshaw was a member of the Copeland American Legion.
Crenshaw is survived by one son, Randy Crenshaw of Dodge City; one daughter, Vicki Guerrero of Pikecreek, Texas; one sister, Bonnie Wiegand of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; two step-children, Tony Kirby and Marcia Lobban; and one grandson, David Gurley.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at Fairview Cemetery, Montezuma with Rev. Jerry Odle presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov.19, 2012 at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Montezuma.
