John E. Millett, Jr., 92, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 at Minneola District Hospital. He was born Dec. 27, 1919 at Sterling, Kan. to parents, John E. and Lena M. (Reed) Millett. He was a longtime Minneola resident and a farmer/stockman.
Millett graduated from Sterling High School. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion and also served on the A.S.C.S., Hospital, Church, and COOP Boards.
On June 7, 1941 he married Lena M. Amend at Sterling, Kan. She died March 16, 1995.
Millett is preceded by parents; wife, Lena; brother, Edger; and sister, Erma Beard.
Survivors include daughter, Patricia Denison and husband Charles; two granddaughters, Angela Ratzlaff and Amanda Lang; and four great grandchildren Shelbie and Shandie Ratzlaff and Kimber and Kolten Lan,g all of Minneola.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at the Appleton Township Cemetery in Minneola with Virgil White officiating. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Minnis Mortuary, Minneola. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) c/o Minnis Mortuary, Box 459, Minneola KS 67865.
