  • Steven Somerville, 36, was found guilty of  burglary to a non-dwelling, felony obstruction, and felony theft with two prior convictions this week. He will be sentenced Dec. 14.
Somerville's charges are the result of an Aug. 9 incident during which he and 22-year-old Adam Nipper, also of Dodge City, confronted employees at the Pizza Hut located at 1513 W. Wyatt Earp with a weapon and demanded cash.
The pair made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and left the area on foot, according to a news release from the police department.
Somerville was initially charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and counterfeiting but his charges were amended; he plead no contest to the modified offenses.
Nipper was scheduled for an arraignment on kidnapping and aggravated robbery Nov. 16, but after he failed to appear for his court date, a warrant was issued for his arrest. According to court records, Nipper was arrested Nov. 19 and is being held without bond.
Upon the request of his attorney, Steve Cott, Nipper underwent an evaluation by Area Mental Health where it was determined he is competent to stand trial.
The date of Nipper's next court appearance is yet to be determined.
