More than 50 percent of Palmer Manufacturing in Garden City succumbed to a fire that started Monday around 10:20 a.m.
According to a report by Fox Kansas, twenty-two firefighters and five trucks responded from Garden City along with two units from Holcomb. Allen Shelton of the Garden City Fire Department told Fox two Palmer Manufacturing employees were transported to the hospital. The employees reportedly suffered smoke inhalation after the fire consumed much of the building.
Shelton said the two unnamed employees were reported in good condition after being taken to a local hospital, according to The Garden City Telegram.
Black smoke billowing from the site paired with winds 31 to 41 mph conditions made containment difficult, but crews were successful in putting out the blaze around 1:45 p.m.
Investigators had not yet determined what caused the fire as of Monday afternoon.
Palmer Manufacturing, which makes fiberglass tanks, is located at 2814 Buffalo Jones Avenue.
