  • The Ashland Bluejays also showed no signs of letdown after having to revamp most of their lineup after winning a state championship by recording a 66-38 victory over the Spearville Royal Lancers.
    The Bluejays scored 33 second chance points in the game. Grant Meininger led Ashland in scoring with 19 points, while Billy Day added 10 and Corey McCann and Nathan Remer added eight apiece. Nathan Stein led Spearville with 11 points and Aston Ratzlaff also scored in double figures with 10.
    Ashland allowed only two field goals to outscore Spearville 14-5 after the opening quarter and extended the lead to 38-21 by halftime. The Bluejays closed out the game by outscoring the Lancers 19-5 in the final quarter.

    INGALLS – The Wildcats came back from a four-point deficit to record the road win over the Bulldogs.
    Rigo Bustillos scored 16 points to lead Moscow while Easton Bohl added 15 as the Wildcats scored 15 points in the final quarter.
    Nathan Hale led all scorers with 17 points to pace the Bulldogs and Zeke Cox added 15 for the home team.

    DEERFIELD – The Longhorns came back from a nine-point deficit after three quarters with 21 points in the final stanza to record the road win.
    Austin Pfannenstiel scored 19 points to lead the Longhorns to record the season opener victory, while Jared Borger added 17 in the win.

    MONTEZUMA -- Trenton Holloway hit 13 field goals and scored 31 points as the Rebels slowly extended their lead after each quarter to record the victory over the Indians.
    Zach Tyler added 16 in the home victory for the Rebels and Carson Skidmore scored 10. Garrett Miller and James Turpin scored 12 points apiece to lead Satanta and Tristan Colantonio added 10 in the loss for the Indians.

    BUCKLIN -- The Timberwolves didn't allow a field goal in the first quarter and built a 19-8 by halftime in the season opener for both squads. Bucklin scored 16 points in the final quarter to try for a comeback in the game.

    ULYSSES -- The Bluejays came back from a five-point deficit in the final quarter and outscored the Tigers 10-4 in overtime to record the season opening road victory.
    Four Cimarron players scored in double figures for the Bluejays: Stewart Fairbank 18, Caleb Fischer 16, Christian Fischer 14 and Ted Boersman 10.
    Tate Annis scored 15 and Nathan Medina 14 to lead Ulysses in scoring.

    Ashtynn Burns made nine of her 11 shots to lead Cimarron in scoring with 26 points. Morgan Ediger added 16 and Eva Koopman 10 for the Lady Bluejays in the win.
    Morgan Price scored 13 points to lead Ulysses.

    INGALLS – Freshman Kaisha Batman scored 16 points and Tara Whipple added 13 as the Lady Bulldogs routed the Lady Wildcats in the season opener.
    The Lady Bulldogs led 18-4 after the opening quarter and continued to push the margin further as the game went on.
    Rebecca Wyatt added 10 in the win.

    Three players scored in double figures for Meade in the win: Kinzie Friesen 15, Bailey Olvera 11 and Hannah Miller 10. Victoria Fullerton led Elkhart in scoring with 15 points.
