The Dodge City Lady Demons stressed defense and rebounding as keys for success this season and they used both to stall the Goodard offense in a 41-30 victory over the Lady Lions in the first game under new head coach Kelley Snodgrass.

"I was very pleased with the rebounding ," Snodgrass said after the game. "We had a huge margin at halftime and I was pleased with how we finished the game. Defensively, we were disciplined and guarded the way we were taught. The girls came out intense. They had some three-point shooters, but we got out there in time. The girls did a great job."
Katrina Roenfeldt led the Lady Demons with 12 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four assists. Alexis Sanchez added nine points (all in the first half) and Chandra Sain eight in the victory. Sanchez also had 12 rebounds for the game.
"We've been waiting for the season to start," Roenfeldt said. "I've been personally looking forward to this season. I like to get after it and play real aggressive. The coach is asking us to play our rules."
Jenna Clasen led Goddard in scoring with eight points.
