Guy "Pete" Mallonee, Jr., 86, died surrounded by his family Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Columbia Basin Care Facility in The Dalles, Ore.
He was born March 29, 1926, in Dodge City, the son of Guy and Ella M. Schechter Mallonee. He was a Dodge City Senior High School graduate. Mallonee was employed by the Rock Island Railroad in Dodge City and Liberal, where his interest in traffic management began. He attended traffic management school in Chicago, Ill. and had a lifetime career in the transportation and distribution field that took him to Hutchinson, Kansas City, Mo., New Orleans, La. and eventually Seattle, Wash., where he officially retired.
He married Maurice Watts Sept. 30, 1949 in Dodge City. He was a former member of the First Christian Church Dodge City and was a 32nd degree Mason member of St. Bernard Lodge No. 222, Dodge City. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, a member of the Median Shrine and the consistory, both of Wichita and member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Wichita.
He is survived by his wife, Maurice; a son, Michael, Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Michelle Maurice, Wash.; sisters, Mary Klein of Irving, Texas, Betty Setzkorn and Pat (Art) Dalgarn both of Dodge City; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Jimmy.
Private cremation was held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
No local service will be held. A service in Dodge City is tentatively scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend 2013.
