  • Jonny Aden Joy, 62, of Callahan, Flor., passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.
He was born April 8, 1950, in Belleville, and was the son of Warren and Neva (McChesney) Joy Hermes.
He lived in Narka and graduated from Munden High School in 1968. He attended Cloud County Community College for two years. After college, he worked in the parts department with Melton Motors for two years then became an Under Sheriff in Republic County for four years. He then began a career in agriculture which spanned 33 years until his retirement in 2010. During those years he worked as a general manager for Rolla Cooperative, a grain originator for Grain Growers Cooperative, a location manager for AgroTech Cooperative, agronomy sales for Collingwood Grain, Inc and as an agronomy department manager for Dalhart Consumers Fuel Association.
He married Janis Valek on April 8, 1972, and they had five children; Jamie, Jason, Jana, Jonathan, and Jennifer. They were divorced in 1991.
On Dec. 29, 2007 he married Trella Suthers. They lived near Montezuma for three years before moving to Callahan, Flor. While in Florida, they enjoyed spending time with friends and family, but they especially enjoyed the beautiful Florida weather fishing on their boat, sitting on the dock with friends, or just enjoying a cup of coffee on their back patio.
Most important in his life were his children and his grandchildren as they meant the world to him. He always enjoyed his long conversations with his children and when asked for advice, it always brought a smile. He was so proud to be their dad and proud of what they have all accomplished.
Joy was a very caring, loving father and husband, and always treated people with kindness while relishing any opportunity to crack a good joke at any time.
He was preceded in death by his father Warren Joy and step-father Eldon Hermes. He is survived by his mother Neva of Belleville; wife Trella of Callahan, Flor; two sisters, Vivian Joy Dirks of Meade, and Debbie Joy Knox of Clyde; five children, Jamie Joy of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jason Joy of Dodge City, Jana Joy Clark of Woodbine, J.W. Joy of Ulysses, and Jennifer Joy of Wichita; three step-children, Mac Jr. Suthers of Arnett, Okla., Eddie Suthers of Stillwater, Okla., and Tedisue Suthers Crystal of Jacksonville, Flor., and 10 grandchildren.
