  • Goldbugs, Lady Bulldogs complete sweep at Black and Gold Classic

  • Fowler boys, Ingalls girls go 3-0 for the week

  • The Fowler Goldbugs had a tougher beginning against the Minneola Wildcats than they did in their first two games of the Black and Gold Classic at The Dome, but a third quarter run pushed the hosts to their third victory in the tournament 62-38.
    The Goldbugs outscored Minneola in each quarter but led only 29-21 at halftime. Fowler had scored 41 and 51 points in the first half of its previous two games. Fowler sealed the victory with an 18-7 third quarter to push the lead to 19 by the end of the stanza.
    Taylin Bird scored 20 points to lead the Goldbugs (4-0) and Jett Reese added 17 for Fowler.
    Cimarron 54, South Gray 47
    CIMARRON -- Caleb Fischer scored 19 points and Christian Fischer 14 as the Bluejays slowly extended its lead in the tough contest against the Rebels in a semifinal contest at the Bluejay Invitational. The two combined for 15-of-23 from the field.
    Stewart Fairbank hit three 3-pointers and scored 10 points in the victory for the Bluejays (3-0).
    South Gray (2-1) hurt its cause by making only 9-of-24 from the free throw line. Trenton Holloway led the Rebels in scoring with 15 points, while Zach Tyler added 14 and Carson Skidmore 10.

    CIMARRON -- The Buffaloes outscored Satanta 29-0 in the first quarter and never let off their pressure in their semifinal contest at the Bluejay Invitational. Meade increased the lead to 45-7 by intermission.
    Morgan Davis led four Meade players in double figures scoring with 14 points. Randy Friesen added 11 and Jett Little and Trevin Wiens scored 10 in the victory. Meade (3-0) were 34-of-67 from the field in the game.
    Satanta (1-2) made only five field goals in the loss. Zach Freeman led the Indians with six points.

    CIMARRON -- The Larks outscored the Red Aces 34-13 in the second half with nine Sublette players scoring in a consolation game in the Bluejay Invitational consolation game.
    Sublette (2-1) led 19-15 at halftime before outscoring Bucklin 18-6 in the third quarter and 16-7 in the final stanza.
    Page 2 of 3 - Taylor Williamson led the Larks in scoring with 14 points and Nathan Cearley scored 11 in the victory. Trevon Herrera scored 11 points to lead Bucklin (0-3) and Anthony Ledesma added 10 in the loss.
    Wichita County beat Deerfield 54-45 in the other boys consolation game.
    Macksville 45, Kiowa County 38
    LARNED -- The Mustangs outscored Kiowa County 12-4 in the final quarter to record the victory in the semifinals of the Gene Keady Classic at Larned Middle Scool.
    The Mavericks led 13-8 after one quarter before Macksville battled back to tie the game at 25 by intermission. Kiowa County led by one after three quarter before the Mustangs stalled the Kiowa County offense.
    Damien Odle led Kiowa County (2-1) with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
    GIRLS
    Cimarron 49, Sublette 28
    CIMARRON -- The Lady Bluejays outscored Sublette 19-2 in the opening quarter and pushed the lead to 41-22 by the end of the third quarter in a girls semifinal contest at the Bluejay Invitaional.
    Sophomore Eva Koopman made seven of her 11 shots and scored 17 points to lead Cimarron (3-0) and Ashtynn Burns added 14 in the victory.
    Brooke Briggs scored eight points to lead the Lady Larks, while Riley Matteson added seven in the losing effort.

    FOWLER -- The Lady Bulldogs allowed only one field goal in outscoring Ashland 14-3 in the second quarter to win Friday night to win all three games in the Black and Gold Classic.
    Tara Whipple scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Kaisha Batman added 11 points and Rebecca Wyatt 10 with eight rebounds to lead Ingalls to their fourth win in as many games.
    Canaan Endicott led Ashland with 10 points. The Lady Bluejays made only eight of their 44 shots in the contest.

    CIMARRON -- The Lady Aces led by seven at halftime before outscoring Meade 30-12 in the second half in recording the victory in a girls semifinal contest at the Bluejay Invitational.
    Three players scored in double figures for Bucklin (3-0): Morgan Hood with 17, Janae Price 14 and Allyson Rudd 12. The Lady Aces shot 54 percent (21-of-39) from the field in the victory.

    Four Satanta players scored in double figures in their first win in three tries this season: Kacey Smith 13, Valerie Caro 11, and Vanessa Caro 10 and Kristy Blair 10 apiece.
    Dusty Watkins led South Gray (1-2) with 12 points and Raine Torres added 11 in the loss.
    Wichita County beat Deerfield 57-29 in another Friday consolation game at the Old Gymnasium.
