  • Buffaloes, Lady Bluejays win Cimarron tourney

  • The Cimarron Lady Bluejays used second chances to stay ahead of the Bucklin Lady Aces in a 58-55 victory Saturday night in the girls championship game of the Bluejay Invitational.
    The Lady Bluejays had 13 offensive rebounds and outrebounded their visitors 28-11 to take the title a hot-shooting Bucklin squad. Morgan Ediger and Ashtynn Burns scored 18 points apiece and Eva Koopman added 10 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked six shots in the victory for Cimarron (4-0).
    Bucklin was 17-of-33 from the field (52 percent). Morgan Hood scored 35 points for the LadyAces (3-1), shooting 12-of-18 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. No other player had more than eight in the loss.
    Meade beat Sublette 48-25 to claim third place in the tournament, with Satanta beating Wichita County 65-37 for fifth place and South Gray beating Deerfield 41-27 to finish seventh.

    CIMARRON -- The Bluejays outscored Cimarron 19-6 in the second quarter to take the lead into double digits on the way to claiming the Bluejay Invitational boys championship game.
    The Buffaloes (4-0) shot 28-of-49 from the field (57 percent) and four players scored in double figures for Meade: Morgan Davis 13, Jett Little and Randy Friesen 12 apiece, and Chris Hardaway 11.
    Christian Fischer scored 16 points to lead Cimarron (3-1), while Caleb Fischer and Ted Boersma added 12 for the home squad.
    South Gray beat Satanta 58-21 in the boys third place game, while Sublette beat Wichita County 53-34 in the fifth place match-up, and Deerfield beat Bucklin 57-38 for seventh place.
