Margarito “Marty” Ortiz, 53, was called home by his Lord Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012. He was born June 10, 1959, in Dodge City, to Victor and Olivia (Laing) Ortiz.
After graduating from Dodge City Senior High School in 1977, he moved to the Dallas, Texas area where he lived the remainder of his life as a self-employed landscape designer.
He is survived by four brothers, Victor Ortiz, Jr. and wife, Mary, Dodge City, Javier Ortiz and wife, Hope, Manassas, Va., Ruban Ortiz and wife, Rosa Lee, DeSoto, Texas, and Mario Ortiz, Dallas, Texas; five sisters, Martha Rubio and husband, Steve, Redwood City, Calif., Renee Johnson, Dodge City, Lucinda Blea and husband, Ronnie, Dallas, Texas, Consuela Mitchell and husband, Tony, Riverton, Utah, and Theresita Ortiz, Taos, N.M.; step-father, Donald Hayes, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Ortiz and Olivia Hayes.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1111 W. Danieldale Rd., Duncanville, Texas 75137.
