  • McClaren scores 20 to lead Wildcats past Lancers

  • Senior hits eight of 12 shots to lead Minneola to road win

  • SPEARVILLE -- Matt McClaren made eight of his 12 shots to score 20 points and lead the Minneola Wildcats to a 57-43 road victory over the Spearville Royal Lancers in a Southern Plains-Iroquois Activities Association showdown.
    The Wildcats (5-1) were aggressive on the offensive side of the ball, getting to the line for 30 free throws against Spearville. The Lancers scored 22 points off of 22 offensive rebounds, but only shot 18-of-64 (28.1 percent).
    Brandy Shumate also scored in double figures for the Wildcats with 14 points.
    Reegan Wright scored 14 points to lead the Lancers (1-5), while Nathan Stein added 11 and Ashton Ratzlaff 10 in the loss.

    COLDWATER -- The Timberwolves outscored the Bluejays 14-3 in the final quarter to record the comeback victory in SPIAA league action.
    James Cook scored 17 points to lead the Timberwolves (4-2), while Koy Alexander added eight in the victory. Grant Meininger scored 10 to lead Ashland (2-4).

    PRATT -- The Goldbugs outscored the Thunderbirds 44-10 at halftime and extended the margin to 70-15 by the end of the third quarter to remain unbeaten after five games.
    Taylin Bird and Ty Clark scored 19 points apiece, while Jett Reese added 12 for the Goldbugs. Fowler made seven 3-pointers in the victory.

    GREENSBURG -- The Mavericks held off a frantic fourth quarter rally by the Mustangs to record the home win.
    Kiowa County was ahead 40-33 going into the final quarter before Macksville's offense fired up for 26 points in the stanza. Kiowa County was able to score 21 points itself in the final quarter to hold on to the win.
    Caleb Davis scored 21 points to lead Kiowa County (4-2), while Rustin Ardery added 18 and Kendall Watson 13.

    COLDWATER -- The Lady Bluejays trailed by 16 after the opening quarter, but outscored the Lady Timberwolves 36-16 in the second half. Ashland outscored South Central 21 4 in the third quarter and solidified the victory in the fourth.
    Canaan Endicott hit seven 3-pointers and scored 26 points for Ashland (5-1), while Nichole Borgelt added 13 and Elizabeth McKinney 11 in the victory.
    Kilee Harris scored 18 to lead South Central (3-3) and Reagan Bayne 15 in the home loss.

    INGALLS -- The Lady Bulldogs allowed only two field goals in the first quarter to build a 20-6 lead after the opening quarter on the way to the SPIAA league victory.
    Rebecca Wyatt scored nine of her team-high 12 points in the first half, while Jasmine Renick also scored 12 as Ingalls improved to 6-0 on the season.
    Cassy Watson and Whitney Wright scored seven points apiece to lead South Gray (2-4).

    Angela Liggett scores 18 ponts to lead the Lady Mustangs (3-3) and Katelynn Gamble added 10 in the victory. Tara Bunker led Macksville in scoring with 11 points as the Lady Mustangs remain winless after five games.
