Officers from Dodge City Police Department (DCPD) arrested two suspects Monday for allegedly attempting to burglarize a residence.
Around 1 p.m., officers were dispatched to 2311 Kerri Dr. for a reported burglary in progress. According to Chief of Police Craig Mellecker, Ford County Communications received a call from an observant neighborhood resident who saw suspicious activity occurring at the location. The caller was able to give suspect information that lead officers to a vehicle in the area occupied by two subjects who were arrested on charges of attempted burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and criminal trespass.
The suspects were identified by jail records as 28-year-old Jason Lee Pierce and 36-year-old Dashaun Ray Howling.
Records from the DCPD for 2012 show 14 burglaries within an approximate 1/4 mile radius of 2311 Kerri Dr., 11 of which were vehicle burglaries. Two of the locations, including the home targeted in Monday's arrest, were residential. One burglary was to a business. The most recent reported burglary in the vicinity was August 8 to a vehicle located in the 2200 block of Fairway Dr.
Burglaries were reported on Fairway Dr., Marsha Lane, Kerri Dr., and Ragan Rd.
No one from local law enforcement was available to comment on possible connections  between the crimes.
