Christopher Stephen Alan Wright, 22, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at his home in Dodge City. He was born July 24, 1990 in Topeka, the son of Clarence O. and Sandra L. (Foote) Wright.
He attended Dodge City High School where he excelled in football, wrestling, and track. He served on the Alley Teen Board as president, was part of the Heritage Panel, and was Winter Homecoming King. After graduating from high school, Wright attended Pratt Community College on a wrestling scholarship. While at Pratt Community College, he was nationally ranked in wrestling and then accepted a wrestling scholarship from Fort Hays State University.
He was a member of the Church of God in Christ of Dodge City.
Wright is survived by his parents, Clarence O. and Sandra L. Wright of Dodge City; one son, Crayton Wright of Dodge City; one daughter, Ayana Wright of Dodge City; companion, Lucia Granados of Dodge City; two sisters, Edwinna Kimble of Hutchinson, and Amanda Goolsby and husband Christian of McPherson; grandfather, Arthur Foote, Sr. and his wife Debra of Dodge City; two nieces, Yazmine Wright and Yamirra McKinsey, both of Hutchinson; and one nephew, Phillip McKinsey of Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Adrian Foote and grandparents, Laura Foote, Billie Pope, and Clarence Wright, Sr.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Dodge City with Elder David Smith presiding. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to Christopher Wright Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
