The Spearville Royal Lancers outscored Bucklin by nine at halftime and extended the lead to 16 with one stanza remaining to record the 53-41 victory over the Red Aces in a Southern Plains-Iroquois Activities Association matchup.
The Royal Lancers (2-5) shot 23-of-45 (51.1 percent) from the field and had 14 second chance points in the game to record the league victory over their Ford County rivals. Spearville was able to build a 30-21 lead at halftime despite the Red Aces shooting 10-of-19 from the field before intermission.
"Our half court trap on defense got us some turnovers and got some easy buckets," said Spearville head coach Chris Sohm. "We worked on some different things and talked about getting on track. We're such a young team and we needed to play well for us to get some confidence. It definitely is a good start to the second half of our season."
Kaden Stein led the Lancers in scoring with 19 points, while Nathan Stein added 15 in the victory. Anthony Ledesma came off the bench to lead Bucklin (0-7) in scoring with 21 points.

GREENSBURG — The Wildcats outscored the Mavericks 15-6 in the third quarter to overcome a six-point halftime deficit to record the SPIAA League victory.
Kiowa County led 33-27 at halftime but couldn't respond to Minneola's third quarter run. The Wildcats cemented the victory in the final quarter.
Three players scored in double figures for the Wildcats (6-1): Brandy Shumate (16), Jason Britt (11) and Gary Stewart (10). Kiowa County (5-3) was led in scoring by Caleb Davis (20, six 3-pointers) and Damien Odle added 14 in the loss.

ROLLA — The Goldbugs again dominated their opponents through the first three quarter to record the road rout over the Pirates.
Fowler led 37-16 by halftime and extended the margin to 37 by three periods of play.
Jett Reese and Taylin Bird scored 17 points apiece to lead the unbeaten Goldbugs (7-0), while Tem Shetley added 10. Bird hit four 3-pointers in the contest. Rolla falls to 4-4 on the season with Obie Telford and Kyler Telford scoring seven points apiece for the Pirates.

MONTEZUMA — The Rebels were tied after the opening quarter against their former Santa Fe Trail League rivals before breaking the game open by scoring 19 points in the second quarter and 18 more in the third quarter. Gabriel Loya led South Gray (6-1) with 13 points with Zach Tyler and Gaige Foskuhl with 10 points apiece for the Rebels. Alex Mata and Mike Mata led Deerfield (2-5) with 19 and 11 points, respectively.
Stanton County 67, Cimarron 54CIMARRON — The Trojans scored 22 points to lead by double digits after the opening stanza and increased the lead to 37-22 by intermission in the Hi-Plains League matchup.Jacob Cron led Stanton County (7-1) led three players in double figures with 16 points while Marques Logan added 11 and Cole Smith 10.
Ted Boersma led Cimarron with 22 points and Christian Fischer added 12 points as the Bluejays fell to 4-3 on the season.
Kiowa County 31, Minneola 30
GREENSBURG — The Lady Mavericks were able to record the one-point win in the SPIAA league battle between two U.S. 54 rivals.
Halie Headrick scored 15 points for Kiowa County and Katelynn Gamble added seven in the victory. The Lady Mavericks hit only nine field goals in the game, but were 10-of-20 from the free throw line.
Bailey Shelor scored 13 points to lead the Lady Wildcats, while Kristen Schneweis added 10. Minneola made only four of its 11 free throws in the contest.
MINNEOLA (30) — Shaley Shumate 4, Natalie Stewart 3, Kristen Schneweis 10, Bailey Shelor 13. Totals 13 4-11 30.
SPEARVILLE — Neither team had more than a two-point lead at the end of each quarter in their SPIAA league game. Spearville led 17-16 at halftime, but the two teams were tied at 40-40 at the end of regulation.
Morgan Hood led Bucklin (5-2) in scoring with 21 points, while Taylor Stout added 11 in the victory. Rachel Slattery scored 14 points and Taylor Offerle 12 for Spearville (4-3).
South Gray 53, Deerfield 38
MONTEZUMA — The Lady Rebels outscored their former Santa Fe Trail League rivals 22-6 in the opening quarter and extended the margin to 21 by halftime to record the victory.
Dusty Watkins made nine of her 13 shots and scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead South Gray (3-4). Myranda Axtell and Raine Torres added seven points apiece in the victory.
Deerfield is winless in seven games this season.
Cimarron 63, Stanton County 30
CIMARRON — The Lady Bluejays remained unbeaten after seven games, outscoring the Lady Trojans 26-9 in the first half in the Hi-Plains League matchup.
Morgan Ediger led Cimarron with 20 points with Ashtynn Burns close behind with 17 points as the Lady Jays remain undefeated.
Lindsey Erskin and Kristina Gerard led Stanton County (3-4) with nine points each.
Fowler 43, Rolla 24
ROLLA — The Lady Goldbugs outscored their host 11-3 in the opening quarter and continued to extend the lead each quarter.
Nikki Friesen led Fowler (4-3) in scoring with 13 points, while Ashten Clark and Hannah Heinz added eight points apiece. Kaleigh Barrett led Rolla (2-6) with 12 points. No other player scored more than four for the Lady Pirates.
