Gary Conard, 76, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at his home in Dodge City.
He was born August 3, 1936 at La Crosse, Kan., the son of Claude Charles and Eva Pearl Johnson Conard.
Conard was a member of the First Christian Church in Dodge City. He spent most of his professional career in broadcasting management, broadcasting sports, numerous entrepreneur endeavors, and motel/hotel management. He finished his working career by overseeing Howell Country Feeders for his son in law Mark.
On March 24, 1979, he married Twilah Johnson at Ft. Dodge, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Christopher Conard of Lawrence; three daughters, Sherrie and Mark Fischer and their children, Dodge City, Melissa Conard, Colorado Springs, Colo., Valerie Grady and her family, Pierce, Mo.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Lyle Johnson, Dodge City; and brother, Dr. Clair Conard. He also leaves many dear friends and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffrey Conard; two brothers, Denny and J.J. Conard; and a sister, Lavone Krug.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at the First Christian Church, Dodge City, with Dr. Phil Scott officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Cremation will follow the service.
The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church or Hospice of the Prairie both in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
