Ruth Ellen (Shepherd) Wolff, 93, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. She was born August 12, 1919 at Copeland, the daughter of Rolland Bane and Trudy Maud (Hayzlett) Shepherd. She grew up in Kansas, living in several towns across Kansas. She graduated from Macksville High School. On July 9, 1946 she married Ernest George Wolff. They lived in Junction City, the Garden City area and moved to Dodge City around 1959. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1988. She worked as a telephone operator in Macksville while attending high school. Once they came to Dodge City, she worked as a nurses aide from 1961 to 1964. She then worked for Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Wolf from 1964 to 1977, then worked at Trinity Manor from 1977 until retirement. She volunteered for RSVP for several years. Wolff enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, family reunions, walking, exercising, making crafts, the mountains and helping ones less fortunate than herself. She was a member of the Christ the King Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose, Rebekah Lodge and RSVP all of Dodge City. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Ackley and Linda Rodriguez both of Dodge City; seven grandchildren, Chad (Sue) Lawson of Assaria, Christina Pencis of Dodge City, Brad (Emma) Lawson of Broomfield, Colo., Clinton Rodriguez, Skyler Rodriguez, Tiphany Rodriguez and Katelyyn Rodriguez all of Dodge City; nine great-grandchildren, Brittany Pencis, Teghan Pencis, Jerrick Lawson, Reagan Lawson, Chelsey Kincaid, Megan Kincaid, Kourtney Kincaid, Madison Lawson and Caysen Hall; two great-great-grandson, Aidin and Anthony Shields; a sister, Loreen Pruett of Dodge City; a sister-in-law Nina Shepherd of Wichita; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her parents; a twin brother, Ralph; a sister, Vera; a brother, Rolland Shepherd, Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Julienne Elizabeth Lawson. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at Swaim Funeral Home with Dr. Phil Scott presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Swaim Funeral Home and Monday from 9 a.m. to service time.
