Harold E. Shortridge, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at the Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.
He was born February 12, 1931, at Reynolds, Neb., the son of George M and Dora Mae Priefert Shortridge. He worked for Farmland Industry and his father and him had a Standard Oil bulk and fuel business in Fairbury, Nebraska. He also enjoyed working on the farm.
He belonged to the United Methodist Church, Elks Club, 4-H Council and was a 4-H leader, all of Jetmore. He was also on a bowling league in Ness City and in Larned.
On August 20, 1950, he married Virginia Foreman at Fairbury, Neb. She died November 17, 2011.
Survivors include four daughters, Karla J. Whiteside, Topeka, Kari L. Weis, Jetmore, Krista L. (Boyd) Lindsey, El Dorado, Kathi R. (Ed) Wright, Colby; a sister, LaVerna M. Barnhart, Fort Collins, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jackson William Whiteside.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the United Presbyterian Church, Jetmore, with Rev. Mark Durham presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Brown’s Grove Cemetery, Burdett.
