  • Leslie “Les” Schauvliege, 55, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at Dodge City. He was born February 18, 1957 at Dodge City, the son of Harold Leslie and Lorraine Loretta Fox Schauvliege. He was raised and graduated High School in Jetmore and attended the University of Kansas. He spent five years in Lompoc, Calif. as a furniture refinishing contractor for the local Air Force Base. He moved to Wichita and attended the Kansas School of Hairstyling in 1985 and later moved to Dodge City. He worked for the City of Dodge City for five years, and for the past seven years worked at National Beef. He was the owner and operator of His n' Hers Style Shop in Dodge City for more than 20 years. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting and collecting guns. On December 30, 1977 he married Katherine Johnson in Newark, Del. They later divorced. On October 18, 1986 he married Connie Rau at Dodge City. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Cody and Tanner Schauvliege, of the home; two daughters, Andrea Caracciolo and husband Esteban, Tempe, Ariz., and Jamie Remigio and husband Michael, Dodge City; a step-son, Jeremy Simpson, Wichita; his parents, Dodge City; two sisters, Marceile Hayes and husband Mike, Derby, and Lynette Dansel and husband Richard, Jetmore; six grandchildren, Marcus Remigio, Adrian Remigio, Jaida Remigio, Isaiah Remigio, Cody Schauvliege, Jr. and Kyla Schauvliege; numerous nephews and nieces; and numerous great nephews and great nieces. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. The casket will remain closed. Private family burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. The family suggests memorials to the Schauvliege Children's Education Fund in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
