Area seniors are encouraged to submit artwork for the competition.
Manor of the Plains has issued a call for entries for the Art is Ageless juried exhibit to be held Feb. 22 through March 14, 2013. Entries of artistic works will be accepted from any area artist who is 65 years or older to exhibit and/or compete for an opportunity to be featured in the 2014 Art is Ageless calendar.
Deadline for entries is Feb. 15, 2013. Entries need to be dropped off or delivered to Manor of the Plains.
Local competition winners will be featured on Manor of the Plains' new website, ManorOfThePlains.org, and will join winners from 17 other Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America communities to be judged at the systemwide level. Winning entries at the systemwide level may be selected for publication in PMMA's annual Art is Ageless calendar and note cards.
For the competition, works must have been completed in the past five years (since January 2008). There are nine categories, as well as designations of amateur or professional. Artists who are not interested in competition, but who would still like to display their artwork, may choose to enter the Art is Ageless exhibit only.
Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America's Art is Ageless program encourages Manor of the Plains' residents and other area seniors to express their creativity through its annual competition, as well as art classes, musical and dramatic events, educational opportunities and current events discussions throughout the year.
"Even before the official announcement, there have been several inquiries about this year's Art is Ageless juried exhibit," said marketing director Kurt Lampe. "We're expecting this to be another banner year for creativity and variety of works."
Entry forms can be picked up at Manor of the Plains, 200 Campus Dr., Dodge City, or by contacting Lampe at (620) 225-1928 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Entry forms are also available for download at ManorOfThePlains.org.
