Paul “Pablo” Andrew Koontz, 48, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital, Eureka, Calif. He was born May 15, 1964 at Kansas City, Mo., the son of Olan Lewis and Diane Marie Prudom Koontz. A longtime California resident, he was a graduate of Humbolt State University and was a Release Engineer for S-Maitrix. He will be greatly missed by his co-workers, his surfing buddies and former co-workers at College of the Redwoods. His first love was surfing as well as being a film maker. He ran “The Cage” at the film department at Humbolt State University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1984 to 1994 serving during Desert Storm. Survivors include his parents, Dodge City; a brother, Sean Christopher Koontz, Austin, Texas; two nieces, Julia and Ally; a nephew, Ryan; and close friends, Jimmy and Susie Foot, Eureka, Calif. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents. Private services will take place in California. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Private family burial will be at a later date in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
