  • Both Hodgeman County teams advance, as does Ingalls boys, Fowler girls

  • The Hodgeman County Lady Longhorns hit a basket to send their Southern Plains-Iroquois Activities Association play-in game to overtime, then held South Central to one basket in the extra stanza to record a 45-42 victory at The Dome. Shania Liggett scored 12 points to lead the Lady Longhorns, while Hannah McPike added 11 and Brianna Bradshaw 10 in the victory. McPike and Bradshaw scored four of Hodgeman County's points in overtime. South Central had only four players score in the game, with three in double figures: Kilee Harris (16), Reagan Bayne (15) and Alyssa Ediger (10). The Lady Timberwolves hurt themselves, shooting only 8-of-22 from the line. Hodgeman County will face unbeaten and top-seed Ingalls in a quarterfinal contest at 7:30 p.m. Monday at United Wireless Arena. Fowler 50, Minneola 38 The Lady Goldbugs scored 25 points in the final quarter to pull away from the upset-minded and winless Lady Wildcats to advance to the league quarterfinals. Fowler trailed 27-25 going into the final quarter before getting their offense going in front of their hometown fans. Nikki Friesen led Fowler (5-6) with 13 points, while Hannah Heinz and Cassie Dressler adde 11 in the victory. The Lady Goldbugs will play No. 2-seed Ashland in a quarterfinal game at 6:30 p.m. Monday at UWA. Baily Shelor scored 12 points to lead Minneola (0-9). Boys Ingalls 67, Spearville 53 The Bulldogs scored 19 points in the opening quarter and pushed their lead to double digits by halftime in recording the victory over the Royal Lancers. Zeke Cox scored 18 to lead Ingalls (3-8), while Chad Myers added 14, Lamontae Heady 12 and Zach Batman 11 to put the Bulldogs in a quarterfinal matchup against top-seeded and unbeaten Fowler at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at UWA. Cox hit four 3-pointers in the contest and Myers made three from long distance in the win. Nathan Stein scored 15 points to lead the Lancers (3-8) and Kaden Stein adde 14 in the losing cause. The Lancers will face Bucklin in a consolation round game next Saturday at 1 p.m. at UWA. Hodgeman Co. 61, Bucklin 36 The Longhorns beat the Red Aces for the second time in less than 24 hours to claim a spot in the league semifinals. Hodgeman County beat Bucklin at their place by 34 points and didn't have much more of a problem in the second meeting. The Longhorns (6-5) scored 21 points in the opening quarter and extended the lead to 38-14 over the winless Red Aces by halftime. The final quarter was run on a continuous clock with Hodgeman County ahead by 30 after three periods. Austin Pfannenstiel scored 18 points as all 12 Longhorns scored in the game. Brennan Harms and Zach Blurton scored nine points apiece in the victory. Anthony Ledesma scored 13 to lead Bucklin (0-10), while Trevon Herrera added 11. The Longhorns will face South Gray in a quarterfinal contest at 6 p.m. Tuesday at UWA.
