    The Fowler Lady Goldbugs started strong in both halves of play and withstood a second-quarter run in beating the South Gray Rebels 53-34 in a consolation game of the Southern Plains-Iroquois Activities Association tournament at United Wireless Arena.
    Sarah Dressler scored seven points in the opening quarter as the Goldbugs opened the game with a nine-point run an increased the lead to 15-1 just before the end of the stanza.
    South Gray answered with a 25-6 run for six minutes in the second half before Fowler closed out the half with a seven-point run to lead 30-27 at intermission. Raine Torres scored all eight of her points for the Lady Rebels (5-7).
    Fowler (6-6) clamped down on defense in the second half, giving up only three field goals after intermission. The Lady Goldbugs outscored South Gray 13-4 in the third quarter and 10-3 in the final stanza.
    Brittney McDowell and Dressler scored 10 points apiece to lead the Lady Goldbugs in scoring. Dusty Watkins led South Gray with a game-high 12 points.

    Page 2 of 2 - The Lady Mavericks scored 23 points in the opening quarter and had a scoring run in the third quarter to seal the rout over the Lady Longhorns.
    Riann Heft scored six points and Katelynn Gamble added five in the opening quarter as Kiowa County built an 11-point lead after eight minutes of play. The Lady Longhorns led 31-19 at halftime and had a 15-point run in the third quarter with Heather Melton scoring seven during the charge.
    Melton finished with 15 points to lead the Lady Longhorns (6-7), while Heft added 12 and Gamble 10 in the Kiowa County victory.
    Shania Liggett scored eight to lead Hodgeman County (4-9).
