  • Ingalls busts open Lady Aces offense to win SPIAA girls title

  • The Ingalls Lady Bulldogs allowed only four field goals in the first half and closed out the game hitting their free throws to improve to 13-0 on the season with a 49-40 victory over the Bucklin Lady Aces in the Southern Plains-Iroquois Activities Association.
    No. 1-seed Ingalls led 22-10 at halftime and increased their lead to 14 by the end of the third quarter. Bucklin did make a comeback to cut the deficit to 40-35 thanks to two 3-point plays by Morgan Hood, but the Lady Bulldogs made their free throws to seal the victory.
    Ingalls didn't make a basket in the final 11 1/2 minutes of the contest, but were 19-of-26 from the free throw line (including 17-of-23 in the final quarter). Leading scorer Tara Whipple went 8-of-10 at the line in the final quarter. Rebecca Wyatt aded 12 in the victory.
    Hood led Bucklin (9-3) with 14 points.
