The City Commission met Monday evening for a work session and their regular meeting. On the agenda was an update about Trail Street improvements.
"The engineers who are working on the project discussed their plans for construction," Nanette Pogue, city clerk, said. "No prices or construction start dates were discussed, however."
The construction will take place on Trail Street from 2nd Ave. to 14th Ave.
No formal action was taken, a public meeting will be held before a decision is made.
The commission also approved an application for extending the pedestrian/biking trail. The proposed route will run through Chilton Park, across Soule and up Comanche to 14th Ave.
Construction on the trail extensions wouldn't begin until at least 2014.
In other business, the commission:
-approved a new planning commission that combined the Zoning Board and the Board of Zoning Appeals into one group.
-approved changes to the cemetery including: approval of veterans medallions, limits to the size of tents that can be used for a funeral, and the volume of speakers used during special events in the cemetery. Commissioners also approved increasing prices of lots from $450 to $500, disinterment from $400 to $1,000 and cremations and baby grave prices increased from $150 to $300.
-approved exterior signage to be placed outside the new YMCA, and approved the YMCA's request to use the All for Fun building for some of their recreational programs. The city will continue to own the building.
The next City Commission meeting will be held Feb. 18
