  • Goldbugs remain unbeaten with road win

  • The Fowler Goldbugs recorded one of their tougher victories of the season with a 69-55 road win over the Macksville Mustangs.
    The Goldbugs outscored the host Mustangs by five in the opening quarter and extended the lead to 37-29 by halftime. Macksville made a comeback in the third quarter to cut the deficit to three, but Fowler scored 22 points in the final quarter to seal the victory.
    Jett Reese scored 21 points to lead Fowler (17-0), while Ty Clark added 16 and Taylin Bird 12 for the Goldbugs. Ibarra led Macksville (14-3) with 20 points, while Miller added 13 and Welch 12.

    MINNEOLA – Trevin Wiens and Randy Friesen recorded double-doubles as the Buffaloes remained unbeaten with the victory over the Wildcats.
    Wiens had 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Friesen added 11 points and grabbed 10 boards. Wiens also had five steals for the Buffaloes (16-0). Morgan Davis also scored 11 points in the victory, while Ethan Reichmann and Jett Little added 10 apiece.
    Meade shot 24-of-47 to record the road win. Minneola falls to 8-8 on the season.

    GREENSBURG – The Mavericks outscored the Longhorns 16-9 in the second quarter and scored 17 points in the final quarter to record the SPIAA league victory.
    Four players scored in double figures for the Mavericks: Damien Odle scored 16, Caleb Davis 15 and Rustin Ardery and Kendall Watson 12 apiece. Austin Pfannenstiel was the only player who scored in double figures for Hodgeman County with 15 points.

    KINSLEY – Nathan Frame scored eight of his 17 points in the first quarter and Greg Newsom scored eight of his 12 points in the second quarter as the Coyotes outscored the Red Aces 37-13 in the first half on the way to recording the rout. The Coyotes built the lead up to 30 by the end of the third quarter.
    Anthony Ledesma led Bucklin in scoring with nine points. Bucklin made only three field goals in the first half.

    CIMARRON – The Bluejays outscored the Indians 34-11 in the second half to record the Hi-Plains League victory after the two teams played to a tie going into intermission.
    Stewart Fairbank scored 12 points for the Bluejays (11-6), while Christian Fischer added 10 in the victory. Cimarron outscored Wichita County 19-7 in the third quarter and 15-4 in the final stanza.

    MONTEZUMA – The Rebels scored 19 points in the final quarter to extend a one-point lead after three quarters to record the victory over the Mustangs.
    Carson Skidmore led South Gray (14-2) with 19 points, while Zach Tyler added 14, Tate Skinner 11 and Trenton Holloway 10.
    Clayton Chase scored 29 points to lead Southwestern Heights (10-7).

    GREENSBURG – The Lady Mavericks was able to used 13 points in the final quarter to record the SPIAA league victory over the Lady Longhorns. Hodgeman County led by one at halftime and in the third quarter in the see-saw battle.
    Halie Headrick and Katelynn Gamble scored nine points apiece to lead Kiowa County. Shania Liggett scored 19 and Cassy Heller nine to lead Hodgeman County in scoring.

    KINSLEY – The Lady Aces overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to complete a rally for the road win over the Lady Coyotes.
    Morgan Hood scored 11 of her 18 team-high 18 points in the final quarter, while Janae Price scored seven of her 17 points and Allyson Rudd scored eight of her 10 points in the third quarter.
    Kinsley scored 19 points in the second quarter to build a 28-19 lead at halftime. Brittany Gleason tried to keep Kinsley ahead, scoring 10 of her 18 points (including eight free throws) in the final quarter. Shaylee Meyers added 14 points for the Lady Coyotes.

    CIMARRON – The Lady Bluejays improved to 17-0 with the Hi-Plains League victory over the Lady Indians.
    The Lady Bluejays scored 27 points in the first quarter and led 43-19 by intermission. Morgan Ediger scored 18 points to push Cimarron, while Ashtynn Burns added 17 and Eva Koopman 15 for the Lady Bluejays.
    Katie Bailey scored 16 points for Wichita County (5-11), while Tailar Bremer added 10 in the loss.
