The Dodge City Red Demons scored the first nine points in their final non-league contest of the regular season against the Collegiate Spartans.

The initial run didn't slow down the Spartans on their home court as they were able to get its offense going in a 54-49 victory over the Red Demons.

More specifically, the Demons didn't have an answer to stop Riley Kemmer. Kemmer scored 28 points (shooting 9-of-14, including four 3-pointers), seven rebounds and six blocks to lead the Spartans to the win.

Jace Larson recorded his second double-double in three games. Larson scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Red Demons (9-7). Shaphan Gross and Austin Weiser added 11 points apiece in the loss, with Gross also grabbing eight rebounds for Dodge City.

Dodge City shot 3-of-16 in the opening quarter to lead 11-9, but committed seven turnovers in the second quarter as the Spartans made 6-of-11 in the stanza to take a 22-18 lead by intermission.

The Spartans continued to have the hot hand in the third quarter, making six of eight shots as Collegiate its lead to 37-30 by the end of the stanza. Dodge City's deficit went to double digits before making a rally in the final six minutes. The Red Demons scored 19 points in the final quarter, but could only cut the margin to the final score.

Dodge City's next game will be Tuesday night with a Western Athletic Conference battle against the Garden City Buffaloes (12-5). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
