  • Wildcats allow only one field goal in victory over Aces

  • The Minneola Wildcats allowed only one field goal on the way to recording a 56-9 victory over the Bucklin Red Aces in Southern Plains-Iroquois Activities Association action.
    The Wildcats led 17-1 after the opening quarter and increased the lead to 30-1 by halftime and 52-2 by the end of the third stanza.
    Brandy Shumate scored 16 points to lead the Wildcats (10-8), while Jason Britt added 11 and Gary Stewart nine in the victory. Anthony Ledesma scored 4 points to lead Bucklin (1-17).
    Fowler 71, Hodgeman County 45
    FOWLER — The Goldbugs improved to 18-0 with the SPIAA rout of the Longhorns at The Dome.
    Fowler led by eight after the opening quarter and increased the lead to 36-20 by halftime. The Goldbugs hit 10 3-pointers in the victory. Four players scored in double figures for the Goldbugs: Jett Reese 17, Ty Clark and Taylin Bird 15 apiece and Tem Shetley 10. Hodgeman County falls to 7-11.
    South Central 44, Spearville 39
    COLDWATER — The Timberwolves allowed only two points in the first quarter, but had to hold off a second-half rally by the Royal Lancers to record the victory.
    Alec Konrade score 19 points to lead South Central (8-9) in the win, while James Cook added nine for the Timberwolves. Nathan Stein scored 13 points to lead Spearville (5-12).
    Sublette 82, South Gray 76 (OT)
    SUBLETTE — The Larks outscored the Rebels 9-3 in the extra period on the way to recording the home victory in a possible preview to a Class 2A sub-state showdown in a couple of weeks in Elkhart.
    Four players scored in double figures for Sublette (12-6): Taylor Williamson with 21 (five in the extra period), Andrew Lower 17, Trevor Leverett 16 and Avigail Gonzalez 15.
    Only four players scored for the Rebels in the victory, but three were in double figures (Zach Tyler 32, Carson Skidmore 27 and Jake Peters 13). Trenton Holloway did not play in the game for South Gray (14-4).
    Victoria 64, Kinsley 48
    KINSLEY — The Knights scored 19 points in the second quarter to pull away from the Coyotes in their Central Prairie League contest.
    Six players scored eight points for Victoria (10-8) in the victory, while Nathan Frame scored 16 and Gustavo Chavez 12 in the loss for Kinsley (9-9).
    GIRLS
    Spearville 50, South Central 30
    COLDWATER — The Lady Lancers didn't allow a point in the first quarter and led 28-11 going into intermission.
    Rachel Slattery scored 16 points, while Kelli Rabe added eight and Taylor Offerle seven in the victory for Spearville (13-5). Alyssa Ediger led South Central (6-11) with 17 points.
    Bucklin 51, Minneola 23
    MINNEOLA — The Lady Aces gave up only 13 points after the opening quarter in recording the SPIAA victory over the Lady Wildcats.
    Morgan Hood scored 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting and also grabbed seven rebounds to lead Bucklin (14-4) and Gentry Stout added 11 in the victory. Minneola is winless in 16 games.

    FOWLER — The Lady Goldbugs led by two after three quarters before pulling away in the final stanza to pick up the SPIAA victory.
    Nikki Friesen scored 18 points and Cassie Dressler added 16 in the victory for Fowler (10-8), with both players grabbing seven rebounds. Hodgeman County falls to 3-14.
    Ingalls 50, Deerfield 18
    DEERFIELD — The Lady Bulldogs defense dominated the game in improving to 18-0 on the season with the road win. Ingalls led 16-4 after the opening quarter and increased the margin to 27-10 by intermission. The Lady Bulldogs closed out the game outscoring Deerfield 14-1.
    Kaisha Batman scored 17 points (7-of-10 from the floor) to lead Ingalls, while Rebecca Wyatt recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Deerfield falls to 1-15 on the season.
    Sublette 57, South Gray 39
    SUBLETTE — The Lady Larks outscored South Gray 12-5 in the second quarter and 17-7 in the third to record the victory over the Lady Rebels.
    Riley Matteson scored 23 points to lead Sublette (8-9) in scoring, while Alexis Ornelas added 12 and Brooke Briggs 11 in the victory. Katelyh Unruh led South Gray (5-12) with 10 points.
    Victoria 51, Kinsley 41
    KINSLEY — The Lady Coyotes led by three after the opening quarter before the Lady Knights took over in recording the road Central Prairie League victory.
    Brittany Gleason scored 18 and Amber Espinosa added 14 for Kinsley (6-12).
    Ashley Dome and Audra Novak scored 11 points apiece for Victoria (10-8), while Kristin Huser added 10 for the Lady Knights.
