Janice Irene (Troxel) Brent, May 26, 1941 - Feb. 19, 2013 Janice, 71, passed away peacefully at the Garden Valley Retirement Center, surrounded by her family. Janice was born and raised in Missouri and moved to Kansas when she married her husband John Brent, Dec. 23, 1963. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversay with family and friends this past December. She was the beloved wife of John and mother to three children, Cheryl (Brent) James and her husband Charles, Greg and his wife Sandy, and Shelia (Brent) Eichman and her husband Laverne. She also leaves four grandchildren, Paul James and his wife Rachel, Bret Eichman, Lauren James and Mikayla Eichman. Her sister Carolyn Johnson and her husband Greg will miss her as well. She is preceeded in death by both her parents, and her three brothers, Bob, Bill and Don Troxel. We celebrate the life of wife, mom, sister, aunt and friend with friends and family at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at Grant County Funeral Home. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Janice is remembered for her smile, her generosity, and her true love of others. She was very active in her church and community until she had a stroke. For several years she resided at home, but made the Garden Valley Retirement Center her home these past three years. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, a quick smile, a story to others around her and she will be greatly missed. We are very thankful for the loving care that she received at Garden Valley, and want to say thank you to all the staff for your sweet spirits and kind words. Her family is very thankful for the legacy she has left behind and will remember her every time they hear gospel music, see the handmade items she gave them, or smell the sweet aroma of cinnamon rolls, one of her signature baked goods. We are sad for our loss, but heaven is richer today as she walks the streets of gold...we rejoice that there are no more tears, pain, or sadness. Love you always.
