George Hawkman Carson III., 68, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at Kenwood Plaza Assisted Living, St. John, Kan.
He was born August 24, 1944 at New Haven, Conn., the son of George Hawkman Carson II. and Margaret Irma Dansbury Carson. A Kansas resident since 1991, moving from Louisiana, he was a Mechanic for Wal-Mart. George served his country with the United States Army.
He was a member of Living Waters. Holiness Pentecostal Church, Dodge City.
On September 21, 1991 he married Eva Thompson Jones at Dodge City, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Floyd Jones and his wife Marlene, Dodge City, Richard Jones and wife Sandra, Shawnee, Okla., George Carson IV, N.J., and Charles Jones and wife Kelly, Columbia, Ill.; two daughters, Annette Mercer and husband Gary, St. John, Kan., and Christine Carson, Deep River, Iowa; Sister, Janet Boham, Omaha, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Barbara Jean Carson and son-in-law, Roger Whitaker.
Memorial Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at the Living Waters. Holiness Pentecostal Church 800 Ave. B, Dodge City, with Rev. Siah Edwards presiding. There will be a book signing Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow the service at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge, Kansas. There will be no public visitation, cremation has taken place.
