What got you interested in becoming a chiropractor?
I thought about being a massage therapist and physical therapist for awhile, then I read an article written by a chiropractor and what he said about the field just made sense to me. So, I did some more research, and learned more about it, and I knew that's what I wanted to do.
Plus I get to help people without surgery or blood and needles, which makes me really happy.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
When I was in high school, I thought I wanted to be a psychiatrist, but then I realized I'd just have to listen to peoples problems all day. By being a chiropractor, I get to listen to their problems, but also help them fix them.
I can help my patients return to their normal life without drastic surgery or other medicine. Whether it's just being able to play with their kids again, or recovering from a major car accident, I can help them get their life back to normal.
What advice would you give someone who wants to live a healthier lifestyle?
First, see a chiropractor. I see one myself on a regular basis, and I can tell when it's been awhile. They help with so many joint and muscle issues, and just improve quality of life. Second, choose healthier foods. Eating junk food only weighs you down and makes you feel sluggish. And third, exercise. It doesn't have to be hours on end either, you can start out small and work your way up. Even if you just walk up and down your stairs a few times, or half a block, it's a start.
