The Bucklin Lady Aces scored 24 points in the final quarter in beating the Spearville Lady Lancers 54-45 in the Class 1A-Division I Coldwater girls sub-state final to qualify for the state tournament in Emporia.
Bucklin led by two at halftime, but Spearville grabbed the lead with a 15-7 third quarter for a six-point lead going into the final quarter. The Lady Aces also clamped down on defense as the Lady Lancers scored only nine points in the final quarter.
Morgan Hood scored 19 points to lead the Lady Aces (17-5), while Janae Price added 11 and Alexis Cossell nine in the victory. Taylor Offerle scored 11 points to lead Spearville (17-6), and Lindsey Heskamp and Marisa Kistler scored nine points apiece in the loss.
Bucklin earned the fifth seed and will face Thunder Ridge (18-4) in the first round of the state tournament at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at White Auditorium.

Minneola boys 50, Deerfield 40
The top-seeded Wildcats allowed only four Spartan points in the first quarter and never relinquished to qualify for the boys side of the state tournament to be conducted at Emporia's White Auditorium.
Brandy Shumate scored 22 points to lead the Wildcats (15-6) and Matt McClaren added 17 in the victory. Alex Mata scored 25 points to lead Deerfield (9-13).
Minneola earned the seventh seed in the state tournament and will face South Haven (21-2) in Thursday's first round game at 3 p.m.

Coldwater sub-state
Minneola gave up only one point in the first quarter in their 43-21 semifinal victory over Spearville. The Wildcats increased the lead to 22-6 by halftime.
Matt McClaren scored 16 points to lead Minneola, while Nathan Stein led the Lancers with eight.
Deerfield also gave up only one point in the opening stanza on the way to a 57-37 victory over South Central. The Spartans led 31-5 at halftime.
Mike Mata scored 18 points to lead Deerfield, while Alex Mata added 16 and Rene Rubio 12 in the victory. Alec Konrade scored 15 points and Koy Alexander 12 to lead South Central.
Spearville opened up Friday play with a 59-39 victory over South Central in their semifinal. The Lady Lancers gave up only five points in the opening quarter to build a double-digit lead and sealed the victory with a 17-7 third quarter.
Emily Slattery and Katherine Rabe scored 12 points apiece to lead Spearville, while Taylor Offerle added 10 in the victory. Alyssa Ediger scored 24 points to lead the Lady Timberwolves.
Bucklin reached the state final with a 59-46 victory over Satanta. The Lady Aces led by five after the opening quarter and outscored the Lady Indians 21-9 in the second stanza to build a 36-19 margin at halftime.
Janae Price led Bucklin with 16 points and Morgan Hood added 13 in the win. Kristi Blair and Valerie Caro scored 10 points apiece to lead Satanta.

Class 1A-Division 2
Ingalls sub-state
Three players scored in double figures as Ashland beat Rolla 44-35 on the way to reaching the sub-state final: Kole Konrade scored 16, Grant Meininger 14 and Corey McCann 11.
Lupe Garcia scored 12 points to lead Rolla.
Meanwhile, Fowler scored 29 points in the second quarter on the way to a 65-29 victory over Moscow.
Tem Shetley scored 12 of his 21 points in the big scoring stanza for the Goldbugs, while Ty Clark added 16. Rigo Bustillos scored 15 to lead Moscow.

Class 2A Elkhart sub-state
The Meade Lady Buffaloes allowed only one field goal in the first quarter to build a double-digit lead and never slowed down in their 57-39 sub-state semifinal victory over the Hodgeman County Lady Longhorns.
Tarah Wiens score 12 points to lead Meade (13-8), while Bailey Olvera (11) and Alyssa Rudzik (10) also scored in double figures in the win. Shania Liggett score 19 points to lead Hodgeman County (7-15).
