The Dodge City Conquistadors had their season ended Saturday afternoon with an 83-68 loss at Independence, with the Lady Conqs closing out an hour later in an 85-54 loss at Cowley in Region VI-Division I tournament action.

The Conqs (14-17) traded baskets with the Pirates for most of the first half, but Independence finished the stanza with a 10-2 run for a 43-35 lead going into halftime. Dodge City was able to get the margin down to five a couple of times, but the Pirates (17-14) were able to push the lead back up to double digits with 5:50 left in regulation.

Dodge City shot 43 percent from the field and were outrebounded by the Pirates 41-30.

Vic Adams, who had orally committed to St. Peter's of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Association, scored 24 points in his final game for the Conqs, while Delvon Rencher added 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Aaron Tate scored 13 points.

Meanwhile, the Lady Conqs (9-22) were getting manhandled by the Lady Tigers (27-4) in their contest.

Cowley pushed the margin up throughout the contest, leading 47-21 at halftime. The Lady Tigers ran the lead up to 73-30 with eight minutes left in regulation before taking their starters out.

Kesha Buckner scored 20 points to lead Dodge City. The Lady Conqs turned the ball over 20 times which were converted into 31 points for the Lady Tigers. Cowley shot 34-of-65 from the field in the game and outrebounded Dodge City 47-27.
