  • Randy Friesen plans to walk-on the Kansas State University football team next fall, but the 6-9 soon to be defensive end made his Manhattan debut a memorable one for the Meade Buffaloes.

Friesen had 22 points, 12 rebounds and 12 blocks as he led the unbeaten Buffaloes to a 80-43 victory over the Oswego Indians in a Class 2A state boys first round contest at Kansas State University's Bramlage Coliseum.

The victory was far from a one-man show for the Buffaloes. Four players scored in double figures and Meade shot 34-of-55 for the game (61.8 percent).
Trevin Wiens hit all eight of his shots and finished with 19 points in the victory, while Morgan Davis added 16 points, nine rebounds and six steals for Meade (23-0). Jett Little also scored in double figures with 11.

The Buffaloes' defense also caused 21 Oswego turnovers.
The Indians (14-9) were 18-of-51 from the field in the contest. Tag Oldham scored 12 points to lead Oswego, while Weston Eckerman and Keldric Yeoman added nine points apiece in the loss.

Meade allowed only two field goals in the opening quarter on the way to building a 19-5 lead over the Indians. The Buffaloes continued to push on offensively in the second quarter to build a 41-22 lead at halftime.

Oswego tried to come back in the third quarter and early in the fourth to make the score 60-43 with six minutes left in regulation.
The Buffaloes closed out the game by not allowing the Indians to score another point, while scoring 20 themselves to complete the rout and advance in the tournament.

Meade will battle Moundridge in the semifinals of the tournament on Friday. Moundridge (19-5) beat Inman 48-41 in another first round contest.
