"I think our school board and administration work very well together," Killion said. "We have some important issues facing our school district, so good communication is important."
Those things include figuring out how to accommodate the increasing student population at all schools.
"We'll have to start think about adding classes and teachers soon," Killion said. "And making sure that there are enough teachers and resources for each student."
Killion said she doesn't want to see students start to just get lost in the shuffle that can often come with a larger student population.
Killion has three children, one has graduated from Dodge City High School, and two still attend.
When her children were little, Killion served on the PTO, but as they got older she felt serving on the school board was another way she could stay involved in her children's education and serve her community as well.
Killion and her family have lived in Dodge City for the last 16 years. She works as an administrative assistant at Smoll and Banning. What she likes most about living in Dodge is how friendly everyone is and their willingness to help if needed. An that friendliness is something that Killion has tried to bring to her position on the school board.
"I hope the people of Dodge City think that I've done a good job in my first term," Killion said, "And if they do, I'd appreciate their vote in April."
