The Dodge City Lady Conquistadors came off an exciting doubleheader sweep of Independence a day earlier by recording a split with the rival Seward County Lady Saints in Friday afternoon action at Legends Park.

Dodge City lost the first game 8-5 and won the nightcap 6-3.

Ashley Stephenson hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning of the opener to give the Lady Conqs (5-6) the lead in the first game, but Seward County answered with four runs in the top of the seventh to claim the opener.

Brandy Huff had two hits and two RBI for the Lady Conqs in the opener, while Abby Morrison and Haley Wedgewood recorded two hits apiece in the loss. Jaycie Morris was the losing pitcher for Dodge City.

Seward County scored three runs off of Taylee Heckman in the second game, but Heckman was able to regroup and record the complete game win. Heckman threw seven innings and gave up nine hits, three runs and a walk while striking out three.

Kayli Keate hit a home run and a double for the Lady Conqs, while Mackenzie Maes and Amanda Best hit two-run home runs.
