  • Freshman Kaisha Batman has been one of the big surprises of the season for the upper-class laden Ingalls Lady Bulldogs this season.
Batman came of age Friday night by scoring 22 points in leading the Lady Bulldogs to a 53-42 victory over Wilson in the Class 1A-Division II semifinals at Fort Hays State University.
The freshman was 6-of-10 from the field and 9-of-11 at the foul line as Ingalls reached the state championship game. Junior post Rebecca Wyatt recorded a double-double for the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Wyatt also had five steals, while Batman grabbed four Wilson passes on defense. As a team, Ingalls forced 23 Wilson turnovers.
Ingalls by only two at halftime, but clamped down on defense in the third quarter and scoring 18 points on the way to pushing the margin up to 39-24 going into the final quarter. Wilson shot 8-of-30 in the second half after being patient in the first half in finding their shots.
Antjeli Pfannenstiel recorded a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Wilson, while Karlie Steinle added 11 in the loss.
Ingalls will play Norwich (24-1) in today's championship game at 4 p.m., in what should be a defensive showdown. The Lady Eagles beat Golden Plains 32-29 in the other semifinal contest.
