The Meade Buffaloes shot the ball well against the Moundridge Wildcats in a 74-54 victory to advance to today's Class 2A state boys championship game at Bramlage Coliseum.
The Buffaloes (24-0) shot 23-of-47 as a team (including 8-of-12 from 3-point range for the game and 14-of-25 after intermission) to dominate the Wildcats in the state semifinal game. Meade also shot 20-of-23 free throws in getting the victory and advancing to play Republic County in today's championship game at 6:15 p.m.
Morgan Davis was 9-of-15 from the field to score 25 points and also grabbed 15 rebounds in the Buffaoes' victory. Jett Little added 21 and also had five assists for Meade. Randy Friesen had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Buffaloes one night after recording a triple-double.
Daniel Ratzlaff scored 26 to lead Moundridge (19-6).
The Buffaloes pushed out for 22 points and a nine-point lead after the first quarter and had a scoring lull in the second quarter, but still maintained a 30-21 advantage at halftime. Meade dominated the second half with 21 points in the third and 24 in the final quarter to push away and complete the victory. Moundridge was 12-of-29 from the field after intermission.
