  • Michael Hubbell, who is finishing up his first term on the Spearville school board, is running once again.
"Two years ago, I just filled a vacant position, and I was unopposed," Hubbell said. "It's a little different this time."
Hubbell said he had no specific reason for deciding to run, only that he wants to continue to make sure that children receive a quality education and the taxpayers dollars are spent in a good way.
"I don't have anything specific I want to accomplish in my next tern," Hubbell said, "just help to make the schools a good place for our children."
Hubbell has two children, a son and a daughter enrolled in the Spearville schools, and he himself graduated from Spearville.
"I've lived my whole life here," Hubbell said. "I left for a few years to attend K-State, but after I graduated I came back to work on the family farm."
Hubbell went on to say he likes that the Spearville schools have small classes, plenty of opportunities and strong life-long friendships that can be made in that environment.
"It's important to me that my children have the same experiences that I had when I was going to school," Hubbell said. "They really impact the rest of your life."
