  • Glenna Day is completing her first term on the Bucklin City Council. She ran four years ago because she wanted to learn what the city council does, and the ins and outs of running a small town.
"I thought it would be interesting, and a good learning experience," Day said. 'Also, I thought it'd be a good way to say involved with my community."
So, what did Day learn in her first term?
"Budgets are hard," she said. "Very, very hard."
Luckily for Day, her work as an office assistant at Frontier Kia helped her prepare for all the budgeting and paperwork she would have to deal with as a part of the council.
"I think my work definitely helped me," she said. "But I still had no idea how challenging it would be."
For her next term, if elected, Day would like to do more to beautify the city.
"I want to see what different options are available to us to fix up Bucklin," Day said, "and see what can be done."
Day has been a resident of Bucklin her whole life, she raised her own kids there too, and now her grandchildren are being raised there.
"Staying close to family is probably the main reason I've stayed in the area," Day said, "but also they have great schools and lots of opportunities you wouldn't expect from such a small town. I really like that about Bucklin."
