Mario Sanchez is currently completing a term on the USD 443 School Board and looking forward to serving his community once again next term.
"I ran, and am running again, to help contribute to my community," Sanchez said, "to help contribute and to help make good decisions for our children."
Sanchez himself has four children, all of whom attend Dodge City schools. His oldest is a senior, he also has a child in 8th grade, 6th grade and his youngest is in 3rd grade at Sacred Heart, where his wife is a teacher.
Sanchez works for Stewart Plumbing doing plumbing, heating and air conditioning work. He's also a licensed master plumber.
Although Sanchez is completing his first full-term on the school board, he's served before.
"I filled in a seat when somene else left," Sanchez said, "and then I ran, and lost the next election. I ran again and won, and now I'm running a third time."
Sanchez said that in his time on the school board he really hasn't had many surprises, and the ones he has had have all been pleasant.
"I was pleasantly surprised by how well the school board, superintendent and administration all work together," he said, "It helps to get things accomplished in a timely manor."
Looking forward to the next term, Sanchez says he hopes that the district keeps progressing as it has been doing so far.
"I hope that as our enrollment continues to increase, we continue to plan for that growth with more teachers and new facilities," he said.
