The Dodge City Lady Conquistadors came back from getting swept by nationally-ranked Highland a day earlier by dominating both games of a Friday doubleheader against Kansas City Kansas at Legends Park.
The Lady Conqs won the first game 11-0 and completed the sweep with a 12-3 victory in the nightcap.
Dodge City scored seven runs in the first inning to claim the opener. The Lady Conqs added a single run in the bottom of the third and three in the fourth to complete the sweep.
The Lady Conqs (12-13, 8-8) had 14 hits in the victory. Mackenzie Maes was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while Kayli Keate was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Amanda Best was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, including a home run.
Jaycie Morris was the winning pitcher, giving up five hits in recording the complete game shutout. Morris struck out nine in the victory.
The Conqs scored three runs in the third and four more in the fourth to build a 7-0 lead. The Lady Devils (0-4, 0-4) scored three runs in the top of the fifth, but Dodge City closed out the game with five runs in the bottom of the frame.
Taylee Heckman was the winning pitcher in the nightcap and helped her own cause with two home runs and five RBIs. Ashley Stephenson hit a home run and scored three RBIs in the victory.
The Lady Conqs will travel to Hutchinson to face the Lady Dragons in another conference doubleheader test Tuesday at 3 p.m.
