A car accident at 8:30 Saturday night resulted in the hospitalization of three people. The accident took place a mile and a half west of the Kiowa County and Ford County line on U.S. Highway 400. According to a report by the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Melva Bernand, 71, of Mullinville was headed westbound when the vehicle lost control and slid sideways into the roadway. It was then t-boned on its passenger side by the front end of a westbound Chevy Impala driven by Steven Isaac, 60, of Montezuma. Bernand and Steven were both taken to Western Plains Medical Complex with injuries sustained in the crash. Rebecca Isaac, a passenger in the westbound vehicle, was also hospitalized for her injuries. Updated information on their conditions was not released by the hospital.
