William F. "Bill" Maxwell, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 following a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 1, 1925 to Walter L. and Eva Maxwell. He graduated from Ingalls High School in 1943 and married Laree Robins that same year. Together they raised four children a farmed land north of Charleston, south of Cimarron, and north of Montezuma.
While in Kansas, Bill was an avid golfer and bowler. He loved to play cards, was a Shriner and a member of the Moose Lodge.
After retiring from farming, Bill moved first to Arizona and then on to California where he enjoyed golfing in the "Bandits" golfing club.
Bill is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jacqueline, of the home; ex-wife, Laree of Dodge City; a son, Billy D. Maxwell of Lawrence; three daughters, Jeanne (Mike) Ward of Modesto, Calif., Jeanette (Brent) Magourik of Dodge City, and Patti (Russ) Basham of Dodge City; his brother, Robert L. Maxwell of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date in Hemet, Calif. after which his ashes will be returned to Kansas to be scattered over the farm.
