Brian Winter, owner and manager of Winter Livestock, has been serving on the USD 443 school board for nearly eight years and is running for re-election once again this April.
"I've always enjoyed living in Dodge," Winter said when asked why he has ran for school board for nearly a decade. "I wanted to do what I could to give back to the community I grew up in."
Winter decided to run once again because he feels the district is doing a good job dealing with the many challenges it faces and wants to continue to serve them.
"We are a growing district, with an average of 100 new students a year and the district has done a good job using their resources to handle these changes," Winter said.
Winter said not only has the district done a good job keeping up with the growing student population, but also in preparing for more growth in the future.
With four of his own children going to school now, Winter said he understands how important it is that the school board and administration work together and prepare for the future of the schools.
"My time on the school board has been a positive experience for me," Winter said. "And I'd like to stay, if the voters feel I've done a good job so far."
