Nina Wray Trekell, affectionately known to many as Wray or "Raisin," 82, left her earthly home Monday, April 01, 2013. Wray was born on September 22, 1930 on the Dubach family farm in Doniphan County, Kan. to Donald Leroy and Rosa Elsa (Dubach) Boatwright. She was delivered by Dr. S.S.Gross in the same bed where her mother was born. In Atchison, Kan., where she grew into a young woman, she was baptized in a Methodist church on an Easter Sunday. After graduating high school in 1948, Wray attended the University of Kansas in Kansas City, Kan. where she received her degree as a registered nurse. During her nursing career, she was an instructor for the LPN program at Dodge City Community College, served as a traveling nurse in Western Kansas and her greatest joy was working in the obstetrics department at Western Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City, Kan. She touched many lives and will continue to do so even now. "Raisin" was a spirited soul, with many amazing qualities that will be missed. Wray is preceded in death by her father and mother, Donald Leroy and Rosa Elsa (Dubach) Boatwright; sister, Donna Rose Boatwright; sons, Gregory Van Trekell and Mark Edward Trekell; and granddaughter, Erin Olivia Valentine. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Melissa Emlyn Trekell of Maryville, Tenn.; son, Stanley Earl Trekell of Lawrence, Kan.; granddaughter, Ashley Dubach Valentine of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Sharon Kay Boatwright of Denver, Colo.; Shirley Ann Westwood of Loveland, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews. Receiving of friends will be held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday April 4, 2013 at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home in Maryville. Memorial service to follow led by Rev. David Webster.
