The Dodge City Daily Globe welcomed back reporter Nancy Calderon Monday. She will be a general assignment reporter for the Globe.
"I'm excited to be back," Calderon said, "doing what I love to do- write."
Calderon began working for the Globe in September of 2011 and left last May to focus on her education.
Calderon will have an immediate rapport with the community and with the newspaper that other reporters would have to develop over time, said Globe General Manager Conrad Easterday. She'll be able to reconnect with her varied contacts almost as if she had never left.
"I thought it was the right time to come back," she said. "I'm in a place where I have the time to become involved in the community once again and I am looking forward to it."
Calderon will write general assignment stories, and is glad to have the opportunity to give a voice to the Hispanic population in Dodge.
"I'm excited to get back out there in the community and hopefully cover more of the hispanic stories going on in town," she said, "it's a big part of Dodge, and the connections I made last time I was here will help me find out what's going on in the community."
Calderon is originally from California but moved to Dodge City in 2011 with her two young children to be closer to family.
