The Dodge City Lady Conquistadors split a makeup doubleheader Monday afternoon against Hesston College at Legends Park.
The Lady Conqs couldn't hold on to the early lead and lost the first game of the twinbill 3-2 before taking the nightcap 13-3 in five innings to earn the split.
Amanda Best went 2-for 4 with a home run and both runs scored, while Kayli Keate went 2-for-3 with a RBI double. Jaycie Morris took the loss in relief of Taylee Heckman.
Dodge City scored three runs in the first of the nightcap and followed with four in the second and six in the third for a 13-0 lead on the way to the victory.
Heckman was the winning pitcher, throwing a complete game with seven hits, three runs and also hit a grand slam. Best, Mackenzie Maes and Rio Beck also hit home runs for the Lady Conqs, with Best also finishing with four RBIs to complete the victory.
Dodge City's next action is today against Colby in a non-league doubleheader.
