Betty F. Schleuning, 90, died Monday, April 15, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.
She was born November 13, 1922 at Timken, Kan., the daughter of Harrison Morton and Ella Mae Gisick Lewis. She was a graduate of Bison High School and moved to Dodge City in 1942. She was a homemaker and in 1978 started working for the South Dillons store starting in the bakery later transferring to the meat department, retiring after 23 years.
On August 1, 1941 she married Gene Schleuning at McCracken, Kan. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2008.
Survivors include four sons, Bill and wife Sylvia, Scottsbluff, Neb., Don and wife Karen, Terrill, Texas, Larry, Topeka and Rick and wife Yi, Dodge City; four daughters, Sonja Barnes, Dodge City, Bonnie Finney and husband Robert, Diamondville, Wyo., Jeanie Schaffer and husband Ronald, Dodge City and Peggy Marshall and husband Rick, Minneola; a sister, Ila Mae Edwards and husband Zane, Bison; a sister-in-law, Velda Lewis, Great Bend; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Roy Lewis, and a granddaughter, Rebecca Dreiling.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Rev. Dick Robbins officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.
