The Dodge City Lady Demons continue to search for their elusive first win after losing both games of a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader to Great Bend.
The Lady Panthers won the first game 12-0 in five innings and 12-2 in six innings in the closing game.
"We just couldn't get anything going," said DCHS softball head coach Heather Steiner. "They have a good pitching staff and they are good at the plate. We didn't play bad defensively; they just were able to get hits."
Freshman Matti Tieben was the losing pitcher in both games for the Lady Demons (0-8, 0-2).
The Lady Demons had five hits and only made two errors in the first game against Great Bend, but the Lady Panthers got 12 hits in recording the first run-rule victory.
Dodge City took the early lead in the second game when Riley Lopp singled and eventually scored on a RBI groundout by Lauren Oldham. The Lady Demons' other run came in the fourth on a RBI single by Sydney Bemish.
Great Bend had 14 hits in the second game to record the run-rule victory in the nightcap.
The Lady Demons play their seventh and eighth road games in a row Friday afternoon when they travel to play Wichita South. Dodge City's next home games will be next Tuesday with a doubleheader against Elkhart at Legends Park. Both doubleheaders in Wichita and at Legends Park will start at 4 p.m.
